Every general wage determination in force, read from SAM.gov and laid out so a person can find their trade: the basic rate, the fringe, the total, where the rate came from and when it last changed. Pick the state, then the county and the type of construction on your contract.
The short answer
A prevailing wage is two numbers: the basic hourly rate and the fringe rate. Together they are the minimum. Your contract names one determination and one modification; find the county and type below, and the classification line on that sheet is the rate a certified payroll is checked against.

Questions people ask
- What is a Davis-Bacon wage determination?
- The Department of Labor's list, for one county and type of construction, of every surveyed classification with a basic hourly rate and a fringe rate. The sum is the minimum a contractor must pay a worker in that classification on a covered job.
- Which determination applies to my job?
- The one attached to your contract, at the modification in force when the contract was awarded. These pages show the current modification; your contract may lock an earlier one. The number is on the first page of the exhibit.
- Are these the rates I have to pay?
- They are the floor. You can pay more in cash, meet the fringe through benefit plans, or pay it all as wages. Overtime is 1.5 times the basic rate after 40 hours; fringe is owed on every hour but is not multiplied.
