The free WH-347 from the Department of Labor, PDF or online, and when it is enough

The Wage and Hour Division publishes Form WH-347 as a PDF with instructions, revised January 2025. It has no fields to type into: you print it, fill it in by hand, sign page 2, and send it to the prime. It is free and it is the official layout; a prime or agency that uses a portal may still want the figures entered there.

The PDF is a form, not a calculator. Nothing in it adds hours, multiplies rates, splits overtime, or compares your rate to the wage determination. Each week starts blank; the worker names, classifications, and rates are typed again.

The Division also offers a free online WH-347 form generator. The Department says it "performs all wage, overtime, and deduction calculations" and prints a form in the official layout, and that "your data never leaves your computer. We don't store your information on any servers." For a contractor who wants the arithmetic done and files rarely, it is a real option.

A contractor with 1 or 2 workers on a short project, who is confident in the math and is only going to file a handful of payrolls.

Anyone who wants to see exactly what the form asks before deciding how to produce it.

A contractor who files now and then and wants the math done for free: the online form does that.

No memory. A 12-worker crew is 12 names, numbers, classifications, and rates retyped every week for the life of the job, with every retype a chance for a mismatch the reviewer will catch.

No arithmetic in the PDF. The overtime split, the fringe on every hour, the gross that ties to the row, and the net that ties to the check are yours to compute. The online form does this math.

No checks against the determination. The PDF will accept 44 straight time hours, an overtime rate of 1.5 times basic plus fringe, or a full Social Security number in column 1E. The Department does not describe the online form looking up your wage determination or comparing your rates to it.

Nothing kept for you. The Department stores nothing from the online form on its servers, so there is no account holding your jobs, your crew, or the payrolls you filed.

Page 2 is a separate effort every week: the boxes, the plan table, the remarks.
